ABOUT US
Bost Library is a non-profit educational institute. It has been active since 2003, as a bookstore and library. In 2006, Bost library started distributing newspapers and magazines and started providing publishing services in 2008. We have accumulated over 1300 used books in three languages such as Pashto, Dari and English and made them available for readers during day hours. The number of members of Bost library who have contributed to the collection of books is well over 460 student and academics. Bost library team would like to expand this collection of books and compile a comprehensive trove of literature through requesting donations in the form of books and other printed reading materials in Pashto, Dari and English.

THE MESSAGE
If asked, an ordinary Helmandi student will tell you that there is no such thing as a place where you can go, sit and read a book or find other information for free or have your questions answered by a librarian. The Helmand Public library located inside the Helmand Province Media compound is more like a police checkpoint, embedded deep inside the surround buildings of Provincial Governance Office. The presence of men armed with AK47 makes an awkward combination, rendering the library uncomfortable or even unaccusable to students and ordinary people. Open just for 4 hours a day in the am, a time when most of the student attend their classes. Helmand Public Library has no staff to help students. Police Search post in the entrance to the library is intimidating and out of place for an academic environment. Personal experience has shown us that the library is an uneasy place to be at.
Bost Library intends to create an opportunity of free reading, reinvigorate the reading tradition among ordinary citizens and make diversified sources of information available to readers and researchers in Helmand. It will not be an exaggeration to say that there are no libraries in Lashkar Gah at all, there are stationaries stores with few books. We, the Bost library team would like to change that by fulfilling our mission: creating opportunities, improving literature.

OUR MISSION
To create a stress free environment for students, teachers and ordinary readers who would like to read for free, research and quire quality information. A nexus for academician to meet, share ideas, a place where people can go to read for free while having access to books, magazines and newspapers. There are hundreds of readers passionate about books on literature, poetry and novels. Bost library would like to support them by gathering and making available used and new books.
