Description

THE LOCATION
ReefView Apartments is located in a little hamlet close to a small fishing village and 100 yards from a 2 mile long strip of sandy beach. It is bounded on either side by the last remaining mangrove refuges on this side of the island and is close to the island’s largest pineapple plantation at Cades Bay.
For all its secluded feel, ReefView is far from cut off from the outside world, as it lies only 150yds from the main road and *public transport.

From here it is a mere 7 minutes by bus or car to Jolly Harbour Golf and Marina Resort where one can find a large well stocked supermarket, pharmacy, numerous bars and restaurants, P.O. banks, casino, golf course, hotels and more beaches. *You can also catch the bus (number 22) which costs a few local EC dollars. The bus stops at the top of the lane for anyone who is standing there waiting on the side of the road.

If that weren’t enough, in between ReefView and Jolly Harbour are other lovely beaches: Turners Beach, Valley Church, Ffryes Bay, Coco Bay, Crab Hill Beach, and Darkwood Beach to name a few of some of the finest white sand beaches to be found anywhere. **** ask for our BEACHES info that details the nearest 16+ beaches nearby and all the beach bars /restaurants and facilities they offer.
On them are located a good number of excellent dining opportunities from a simple club sandwich to a lobster thermidor or stuffed pineapple full of succulent shrimp.
If however you are up for the real West Indian Experience, there are a couple of bars and snackettes (small food stalls), Goldie’s, Maria’s, Manny’s, Pizza parlour, Bloody Mary’s, Gus’s Place and the BAKERY all within easy walking distance of Reefview, also walk down the beach (5 mins) to the local fishing harbour and visit “SeaView Lawn” or “Chappy’s” Restaurant on the marina, which serves food and drink at very reasonable prices and where you can purchase fresh fish and lobster straight from the boat it came in on from the fishermen at local price!

THE ACCOMMODATION
Within our little haven – here on Antigua’s southern shore we have 3 choices of accommodation available:
The units are self contained apartments, furnished with 100% cotton linens, fluffy towels and modern appliances. Each unit is slightly different with its own individual beach side living style. including fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, hot and cold water throughout and separate laundry room. As well as wireless internet broadband for those who cannot quite tear themselves away from their busy lives.

Each apartment has 1 dedicated bedroom with queen-size bed a large ensuite bathroom with full bath and rainfall shower. If extra sleeping quarter is required we can easily cater for this in the roomy living area by means of fold out sofa beds and extra portable beds, cots and proper mattresses etc.

Seaview “Garden apartment” is suitably elevated on the 1st floor to maximize the viewing possibilities of the nearby ocean. It is set in amongst lush tropical foliage – banana, guava, wild cherry and palm trees, with many extravagant flowers, around which hummingbirds abound.
As well as possessing a covered patio area, which is popular for outside dining or lounging in the comfy seaview sofa with a good book, this apartment also has convenient access to the secluded lower garden and shaded courtyard for extended chillout possibilities.

Oceanview “Penthouse apartment” upstairs on 2nd floor is quite similar to that below, one thing you cannot fail to be bowled over by when you climb the stairs and enter - is the panorama.
Its 180+ degree vista takes in the entire south coast of Antigua, including the our largest reef system lying about 1 mile offshore and has views of 3 neighbouring islands – Redonda, the French island of Guadeloupe, and also of Montserrat, taking in every imaginable shade of blue.
The bedroom window looks east toward the mountains and mangroves.
In season, the kitchen window and outside covered veranda will allow you to observe the world’s most exclusive mega-yachts as they navigate to and from nearby English and Falmouth Harbours, some of the finest deep water anchorages to be found anywhere in the Caribbean.
The sundeck on the west side is always a fabulous spot to relax and it is a particularly fine spot for cocktails at sunset and to watch the light show in the sky as we pass once more from day into night. There is a second covered patio on the North East side which is a delightful breezy spot overlooking the Sherkelly Mountains which protect our valley full of pineapples.

The NEW Beach Loft Cottage

Due to popular demand, we have completed a 3rd and utterly unique beachy cottage......
Fully self contained, complete with an elevated viewing lounge or day bed, and an innovative fully enclosed “outdoor” shower room, the Beach Cottage is nestled amongst golden bamboo palms, bougainvillea, hibiscus and banana trees in its own tropical courtyard - complete with tree frogs and hummingbirds.

Designed primarily with couples in mind, this whimsical building comes complete with cooling porcelain floor tiles throughout and an elegant queen sized bed, ready for romance, under billowing Bedouin marquee-style drapes in soft muslin.
The bed itself is furnished with Egyptian cotton sheets, soft pillows and loads of extra cushions.

The panoramic viewing lounge, also upstairs, with its vaulted ceiling, queen size daybed and wide, screened windows, provides a bright breezy corner from which to check out everything going on in the South. From the stunning blue hues of the Caribbean Sea, the lush green Shekerley Mountains, Cades Reef and palm tree fringed beach in front – to the nearby islands of Montserrat, Redonda and Guadeloupe, this is one happening vista!

The Cottage also enjoys the use of it’s own large gas BBQ grill and dining set located within your own secluded courtyard.
According to our guests, it’s the big grill and the “outdoor” shower room in particular which really make for that enhanced feeling of freedom which is Caribbean ‘al fresco style’ living .

Other amenities include Cable TV with 60+ channels, CD/Radio, free WiFi, IPOD docking station, coffee maker, fridge/freezer, microwave, blender, electric kettle, iron, hairdryer, toaster and toaster oven and even a vacuum cleaner.

THE BAR……..
For those of you who really want to take it easy, Nick and Karoll also run a beachy type restaurant, next door in their own backyard called “The Octopus’ Garden” which is decorated with all manner of eclectic flotsam and jetsam collected over many, many walks on beaches nearby.
Its well stocked bar serving ice cold beers, tropical cocktails and smoothies can be the perfect launchpad at sunset for the evening’s entertainment. With a simple but decidedly yummy menu that changes daily according to chef’s inclination and what’s in season.
It can be the perfect last resort after a tough day on the beach when you just cannot be bothered to do it yourself!!

THE ACTIVITIES
If you are looking to be a bit active and it’s watersports that trips your trigger - then you are still in luck.
ReefView Apts can supply you with sea kayaks in which to go off adventuring in the nearby network of mangrove channels. and snorkel gear to view the underwater treasures first hand. (We even have a couple of Seadoo Seascooters – a rechargeable underwater propulsion system which can be rented to enable you to zoom around ‘James Bond style’ helping you to see even more good stuff with a minimum of effort!!)
Our latest addition is an 18ft Boston Whaler speed boat which you can charter with a captain for your own tailormade adventure for fishing, fly fishing, (www.antigua-flyfishing.com) snorkeling, diving or just cruising and enjoying Antigua’s breathtaking coastline from the Caribbean sea.
There are also floating chairs, boogie boards, lilo's, lightweight portable chairs, hammock, tables and coolers for your trips to the nearby beaches with your picnic lunch if you prefer to do your own catering.
Inside the apts are a selection of games: Scrabble, monopoly, jenga, boggle, backgammon, yahtzee, cards, dominos, trivia puzzles, books etc

Outside are additional extra showers and fresh water taps for you to rinse yourselves and belongings from sand when returning from the beach – or just to freshen you up amongst the tropical flora and fauna of the garden.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

ReefView is not remote or islolated we are annexed to the village in the lowlands near the beach.
We are a small hamlet of 9 other occupied beachside dwellings. We have proper fencing, automatic sensor security lights, double locks on the doors, lockable steel safes for your valuables with burglar bars on the lower windows - plus our family dogs who love to bark if anyone comes to the fence, we also live on the property in a seperate house.

YOUR HOSTS
Your hosts Nick and Karoll Williams have over 30 years combined experience of living in the islands
.
Nick’s background is largely based in and around the water. Now a professional sea captain and engineer, he has had the privilege to work on some of the world’s finest yachts, but has also been a cruising, windsurfing, powerboat and waterski instructor. Nick leads ‘wilderness adventures’ with a wide variety of destinations available depending on ability into the secret spots rarely viewed by the masses. In such an untouched location, wildlife is always close at hand. From herons and egrets to starfish and shellfish, our star attraction of the Southern Stingrays, often close enough to shore to photograph from dry land, at least one escorted beach walk with Nick or Karoll as your guide is almost mandatory to open your eyes to the wealth of Nature’s bounty.

Karoll is – well… just Karoll!! As well as being a gourmet chef, talented interior designer and wedding co-ordinator, with her background in PR and Marketing, she is a superb natural hostess who can get along with almost anyone and from the moment you arrive at Reefview, should you wish it, she will be literally falling over herself to help make you stay more fulfilling. Her great taste has furnished the apartments in a simple yet sophisticated style and her green fingers have seen to it that the gardens always seem about to take over the property!

Whether it’s for boating, fishing, fly-fishing, snorkeling, diving, photography, excursions, dining, partying - or just getting away from it all, with their combined knowledge and experience Nick and Karoll pride themselves on being able to design you your perfect Antiguan holiday!

Arrive as guests and leave as friends

We’ll see you soon……….!
