Ondanks dat Anguilla klein is, 26 km lang en 5 km breed, heb je toch een auto nodig. Zeker om de mooiste plekjes van het eiland te bezoeken. Wij huren altijd een jeep, lekker open dakje en je kan overal overheen jakkeren. Huren kost ongeveer 45 - 55 dollar per dag. Je kunt het zo regelen dat de auto bij de kleine haven staat waar je aankomt met de boot vanuit Sint Maarten. Sleutels laten ze er gewoon inzitten, dat geeft een beetje de mentaliteit weer van de mensen...heel relaxed! ;-)

Anguilla Anguilla is een mooi, klein, chique en rustig eiland met prachtige witte zandstranden en een turquoise kleurige zee. Er bevinden zich in total 33 stranden op het eiland, de 1 is nog prachtiger dan de ander. Op dit eiland kun je helemaal bijkomen, je wordt niet blootgesteld aan massa toerisme er zijn namelijk geen casino’s en grote shopping centra, bovendien is er geen haven waar grote cruise schepen kunnen aanleggen. Anguilla is een luxe bestemming met dure villa’s en mooie resorts maar heeft echter het relaxte karakter behouden waar de Cariben bekend om staat. De 5 eilanden van Anguilla liggen in het heldere turquoise water van de Caribische zee, 8 uur vliegen vanaf Amsterdam. Deze laag gelegen Caribische eilanden zijn gezegend met een heerlijk klimaat, poeder witte zandstranden, mooie palmbomen en exotische flora en fauna. Bereikbaarheid: Vanaf Amsterdam vliegt de KLM rechtstreeks naar Sint-Maarten een vlucht van ongeveer 8 uur. Aangekomen op luchthaven Prinses Juliana kun je rechtstreeks een boot nemen naar Anguilla maar er is tevens een ferry verbinding vanaf Marigot. Dit is heel goed te doen, de taxirit duurt ongeveer een kwartier en de boten gaan af en aan naar Anguilla. De boottocht duurt ongeveer een half uurtje. Lekker uitwaaien na de vlucht! Op de terugreis is het altijd leuk om op Sint Maarten een drankje te doen bij de beroemde Sunset bar. Hier kun je de vliegtuigen bewonderen die aankomen op Sint Maarten en vlak over de bar heen vliegen.
