This Western Canadian coastal city is the third most populated metropolis in the country and often earns praise for its livability and cleanliness. Vancouver originated in 1867 as Gastown that sprung up around a logging sawmill and bar. The city is named after British Royal Navy Officer George Vancouver and it hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics.
