Description

Aveley Primary School is located in the suburb of Aveley. The contemporary design features extensive provision for the development and effective use of ICT, a well equipped music room, an Art Centre that has the capacity to be used as a Science Centre, a Covered Assembly area and a Dental Clinic caters for children in the area. Adjoining the covered Assembly area is a 'restaurant standard' Canteen and it is planned for this to be operational as soon as practicable. As part of this complex is a Uniform Room. There has been a generous provision for outdoor physical activity that comprises tennis and basketball courts and an oval that has been developed by the City of Swan for both common and school use. The Library is centrally located and is wired for affective use of the Internet as an integral part of the learning process.

In designing the school, the architect has paid particular attention to zoning the campus into a civic court, an active court, a junior play court and bush court. Special attention has been given to blending the development with the existing bush setting and a curriculum focus will be on sustainability and environmental awareness.

The school is situated in a private land development and presents medium to high cost housing and a rapidly developing infrastructure in terms of shopping facilities. Other facilities in the area are a Secondary College [7 - 12], and public access facilities provided by the City of Swan. These include a well equipped Library, meeting facilities and sports ovals.

There are several schools in the area many of these are public schools. The oldest of these is the Ellenbrook Primary School that has been established for over 10 years. School numbers at Ellenbrook are quite high and a common area marked by Millhouse Road in the North, Gnangara Road in the South, , Henley Brook Avenue in the West and Flecker and Amethyst in the East has been designated an optional area. The area called Belhus is also an optional area. Road by road catchment details are available from the Principal.
