About Auxfin Burundi
AUXFIN is a social enterprise that aims to provide financial and non-financial solutions accessible to all, including vulnerable populations with low literacy, limited access to the Internet, electricity, and limited experience with mobile and other technologies. To achieve this goal, AUXFIN has developed the UMVA platform ("Universal Methods of Value Access"), which facilitates transactions of any value. This UMVA-based solution allows small producers to access basic financial services such as trading accounts, savings, microcredits, payments, and transfers. As part of its ongoing efforts to address rural issues and facilitate access to banking services, AUXFIN launched a wide range of digital services and innovative applications. These services contribute significantly to other institutions' financial inclusion initiatives already deployed at the national level. To reach these rural communities, AUXFIN has grouped the population into groups of 50 households in the vicinity and provided them with tablets connected to the UMVA system. This system allows them to have free access to banking services and make payments for fertilizer, seeds, and other services. These tablets to which the G50s are given access contain other applications such as Agricoach, Health Coach, FinancialCoach, and NutritionCoach to transmit crucial and updated information in agriculture, health, and finances. All this is done to give rural populations the tools and knowledge adapted to their needs to considerably increase their yield and sustainably develop their activity on a large scale.
