Ilha da Madeira has everything! We spent a lot of time after sunset on the veranda in our apartment. The beach is unbelievable! The water is safe and not too rough (like Rio). Although we didn't have a rent a car (took a taxi from Guaralhos Int'l) the last time we visited, taking the bus from the resort was easy to Bertioga It has a lot of places to see and a lot of shops. We are going again in a few months but, renting a car this time. So much to see up in the mountains or beaches along the coast! "
