Khuju Luyang, Folk Performing Arts & Music, is the first private performing troupe based in Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.Started with five members, today the troupe has twelve members and better musical instruments and costumes.Khuju Luyang means "Song of the Cuckoo" and evokes the pastoral origins of many of our songs and dances.Khuju Luyang performs traditional songs, dances and keeps original tunes and dances alive. Moreover, new choreography for some traditional and regional songs is sometimes developed. The troupe also performs mask dances that have historical and spiritual significance.Khuju Luyang is well known and recognized performance company in Bhutan. The troupe entertain tourists and also performs during special occasions and national events. Professional commercial performance companies are new in Bhutan and performance for the public helps in gaining popularity for this style of entertainment. Our young dancers are taught the songs, dances and music according to the rules and regulation set by the Department of Culture
