Also very nice snorkling tour with Jordan and Daniel who operate from Frenchies. We missed a bit of the usual diving vibes though we are so used to in other countries such as Indonesia. "

" The worst service experience in the history of diving.
To give the summary upfront: being quite an experienced diver (rescue level, >150 dives), I have never seen a dive center that even comes close to the unfriendliness, bad service, cold vibes and weak communication I have experienced at Frenchies.
The long story:
The problem of a monopoly is, you don’t have to care about your customers. That’s exactly what happened here. At the time I wanted to dive with Frenchies, BDS was closed for renovation. Frenchies being basically the only operator to do a Blue Hole trip from Caye Caulker seems to have lost any kind of aspiration to actually care about the people diving with them.
I booked the Blue Hole trip a day in advance and at the same time asked if they had a DIN adapter, so I could use my own regulator. The immediate answer was “yes - of course”! Great.
Next day, I wanted to complete the check in, paid the full bill upfront, chose the rest of the required equipment and then asked for the DIN adapter. Suddenly, no DIN adapter available - supposedly stolen by a previous customer. Now here’s the thing, I don’t like diving with rental equipment. Having looked at the rather mediocrely maintained equipment of Frenchies, I certainly didn’t want to use theirs. So I thought, ok no problem... about a quarter of the tanks on the dive deck had the possibility to remove the inner Yoke/DIN insert, so I could have attached the DIN regulator without an adapter. Everybody with a DIN valve knows, it is one simple screw to unscrew. So I asked them if they could do that instead. Without even considering it, the answer was “NO! We don’t do that”. My question why was answered with “because we might lose the insert.” Desperate to use my own reg, I offered to take care of that insert myself and pay 100 USD in case it would get lost (for a part that’s worth 5 USD). But the guys from the shop would not even think about showing the slightest interest in helping me and fulfilling their promise that they had a DIN adapter.
We ended up in a discussion, where I was simply shocked by how customer unfriendly a dive center can be and because I told them I will give them a bad review, they took me off the trip. They said they don’t want people with an attitude on the boat. They refunded the payment, but I didn’t get a chance to dive the Blue Hole.
I admit that I was really pissed in the situation and could have been less pushy when asking for a solution. But frankly speaking, I was completely shocked and surprised how lazy, unfriendly and inattentive a dive operator can be. It would have been super simple, to just remove this one screw but they just didn’t care... very sad.
If you don’t necessarily want to dive the Blue Hole, I can recommend Black Durgon Divers. These guys at least have a great spirit, you can have fun with them and they still like their job. "

" We went diving with Frenchies and we had a great time! We are pretty inexperienced but the dive master(s) really assured us before and during the dive. They helped us with our gear and explained the whole dive plan properly up front and during the dive made sure we where ok. We felt like we were in good hands. "

" Had a great experience at Frenchie's. I did 5 dives with this shop, including the Blue Hole and Half Moon which were incredible. We were led by responsible and safety-minded dive masters, who were knowledgeable and a lot of fun. I personally appreciated their respect for the marine environment, including the stop we made on the way to a dive in order to pick up floating trash. Between dives we were taken to some shallow areas to float around and relax, and were provided snacks and waters which was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend Frenchie's to anyone looking to dive or learn to dive in Belize. "
