Description

Welcome to the Hummingbird Guest Lodge & Hostel in the beautiful nation of Belize. We are located at Mile 29 on the Hummingbird Highway, halfway between Belmopan and Dangriga. The lodge is an hour from beautiful beaches and less than two hours from the Belize International Airport and ferry boats to the islands. Here in the Maya Mountains you will find yourself transported to a world of tropical beauty and serenity. Right on our 100 acres we are surrounded by a year-round creek with a number of swimming holes and wild rainforest with miles of jungle trail. (Ask us to show you the waterfalls right near our property!) We are located in Central America’s biological corridor: one of the densest and diverse populations of flora and fauna. The famous hummingbirds frequenting the flowers outside the kitchen windows are just the beginning: our area is home to 850 species of brilliantly-colored butterflies, parrots and toucans flying from tree to tree, jaguars and tapirs and wild boar roaming the forest, and orchids, ferns, palms and an array of medicinal plants that carpet the jungle floor.

If you are looking for affordable accommodations close to nature rather than an expensive resort, you will love our lodge. You will have a choice between dorm style hostel accommodations or camping (private rooms coming in January).

We are located near Belize's jaguar reserve, ancient Mayan ruins, beaches, national parks and much more. A wide range of tours are available in the area, guided by some of Belize’s foremost tour guides. These include private tours offering birding, caving, repelling, river excursions, medicinal and interpretive trails, overnight remote camping, and miles of trail systems for hiking.
