When I tried to contact him to resolve my issue, I kept informed that he is in meeting or not in office. Worst customer service... I would give 0 star for this place. Go somewhere else... Summary: Poor customer service, no evident knowledge of accounting, terrible communication and did not remotely provide the services i paid for. Thanks for nothing, Walt.
I am a single guy with no assets - an easy tax situation, right?
From the beginning taxsmart had 0 regard - i had called to make an appointment to meet with the accountant, who's name i wouldn't learn for over a month and half, and on the day of, the accountant was a no show, with no contact.
So the front desk lady helped me. But she couldn't do the 2011 return. But she promised it would get done (it didn't get completed for nearly two months for no apparent reason) additionally, the lady who helped me failed completely to apply tax credits i explicitly told the firm and her to use.
Because this firm completely failed me in every way, the Canadian government ended up applying my credits. Which they over applied, causing them to reissue assessments to me to until I'm no longer sure about my situation. At this point my 'accountant' and the CRA have each issued adjustments and this has made clear to me that this tax firm apparently cannot perform simple arithmetic (adding and subtracting), not provide remotely competent levels of service or even just communication. For example i emailed them almost two weeks ago with more urgent info about my assessments and I've gotten no reply. Meanwhile the penalties add up, which my accountant was supposed to protect me from in the first place.
Simply awful from start to finish. You are better off not doing your taxes at all than having these bumbling dolts blindly feel their through their job.

" UPDATE: Finally had my taxes filed on August 22nd, after going in in April, not only did they not return my initial phone call, but I now owe a 56 dollar late fee from CRA for not filing my taxes "on time". Worst company ever, next tax season I'll be filing my own taxes.
Horrible service. Unfriendly Tax Filer. Filed my taxes in APRIL and my tax file STILL has not been submitted. Not impressed.. "
