" This has been by far my least favorite hotel in Santa Maria, Sal Cape Verde. When I was checking in, the individual at the front desk goes over everything I purchased online and says, "looks like you didn't pay all your fees online so we are going to have to charge you the rest now BEFORE WE DO ANYTHING". I then try to make the conversation a little less hectic by saying, "welcome to Salinas and hope you enjoy your stay here". He then tried to tell me that the fees would cost me 2000euros/night for being a foreigner, which I then responded, " you are out of your mind my friend, because I am not paying that". When I asked to call the manager, he then calmed down and said, I meant to say it was 200euros/night. "VERY SUSPECT".
Long story short here is a list of the reasons why I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE COMING TO SANTA MARIA CAPE VERDE.
To iron your clothes you have to make a reservation for a iron, and there's only 1 burned iron throughout the entire hotel. White shirt I had planned to wear first night "RUINED". 2nd day I walk out my room and notice few men sanding down the wood balconies. As I walk through the men and try to look around for safety, I get hit with a pile of wood dust. Would of been great to have this part of the hotel secluded from all guests. I then go sitting poolside and walk up to the little cabana to order food and the employee says, "if you're not sitting in this area we can not take your order", but then again mostly everyone had a plate of food poolside. I simply say, "OK, WHATEVER ILL JUST GO GRAB SOME FOOD AT THE BUFFET AND EAT HERE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE". Later on that night I try to shower and head down to the new Casino they have out here, BUT THE WATER WAS SHUT OFF. I then call down to the lobby and ask, how long until the water comes back on, (ladies answer to my question) I DON'T KNOW, WHEN THEY TURN IT BACK IT ON, ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH. I calmly answer, nope, that was all. I then go to bed and wake up at 7AM with a full construction crew making renovations to the hotel. I call again down to the lobby and ask, is there still going to be construction done tomorrow morning, (gentlemen simply answers): I HAVE NO CLUE, I WILL LET YOU KNOW TOMORROW AND SEE IF THEY HAVE ANYTHING ELSE TO FINISH. Me: I think the sound of construction waking me up tomorrow at 7am is what I'm trying to avoid. I then ask to be moved to another room. They gave me another room a little further away from the construction site with a dirty shower. It was my last day so I was done with the complaints since I noticed staying at this HOTEL had been the worst decision. At check out I ask to speak with a manager on duty. I spoke with her, explained my situation and asked if they had any policy in place for unsatisfied guests. Her response was, there’s nutting we can do for you and walked away shortly after that. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. "

" The rooms are not LUXURIOUS, but are of good quality. The meals were very good and the service and staff was incredible. The animation was fun. The pool was very fun and very close to the pool. Some people bothered us between the hotel and beach to buy some stuff, but not super bothersome. The beach bar was fun too. The beach was very enjoyable with good sand and beautiful water with good temperature. Too bad for the constant wind, but thats a given in Cabo Verde. "

" Staff can't be faulted. Food excellent - but maybe a few plain type foods like potatoes or chips, plain chicken etc for people like myself who can't eat onions or dishes with sauces and dressings which likely contain onions. Rooms outstanding. Cleanliness - perfect. "

" Hotel is generally very good.
Considered one of the better hotels in the area.
Stayed in one of the 'superior' garden view family rooms. Room is fair size with sofa + double bed + shower room, TV, fridge and sliding wardrobe. Air con faulty after a few days. Reported it but still remained faulty. That said Staff are friendly and helpful.
Plenty to do at hotel, inc, games room, small gym, spa and massage + animation team offering poolside activities and evening dance shows.
Loads of sun beds around pool, on grass and across road on beach. The early morning race is to reserve the best spot. There aren't many areas that provide shelter from the wind. They don't often mention the perpetual wind in the brochures, however without the wind the sun is ferociously hot.
Access to beach club (bar and restaurant) is included. Beach club is excellent, afternoon DJ playing some funk in the afternoon to watch the sun go down. In front of the beach club there are the several hundred sun beds reserved for hotel guests.
Food is wholly a buffet on all inc basis. Access to 3 other restaurants included with all inc on a voucher basis (bbq, suchi and 4 course restaurant taster menu). "

" Nice and cosy, modern hotel on a good spot by the sea and walking distance from the local authentic Santa Maria village. Friendly locals and staff. Clean rooms. Excellent breakfast! Highly recommended for families, couples. "

" We stayed bnb and cannot fault the food, staff or accommodation. All of the staff were super friendly amazingly helpfully and had excellent local knowledge. Be aware that the hotels band appear to increase the likelihood of scam artists trying to enamour you with the "I'm security at your hotel - come see my mother's market" type scams. Take your bands off or cover them for a less stressful shopping experience in santa maria. The hotel is clean, room cleaning was immaculate, front desk will arrange taxi services for cheap transport on the island. I hate forced entertainment but the animation team were fab! Cannot fault their enthusiasm or ability. Breakfast was varied and very few flies on site (recent refurb) I'd stay again here in a flash if we went back! "

" Nice place to stay. Room is large, wifi and AC works. Terrible smell from the kitchen goes to the room, so we couldn't use balcony. Food could be better for 5* hotel. Found mold in the bathroom. "

" Remember you are west off the African coast I think the place is brilliant, 4 star for Africa. There are plenty of new buildings going up, go before it gets to over grown. All inclusive is a must when you see the local restaurants. "

" The most obvious feature of this hotel is how immaculately clean everywhere is, and how many staff there are - all always working very hard. Staff (on the bars) are sometimes a bit blunt (as theyre so busy) but are always ready to help. The beach bar is lovely and there's a nice range of food. At busier times, food does run low though. People are allowed to leave towels on the beds around the pool but this wasn't a problem for us as there were always free ones throughout the day, and the beach is very close anyway.
My only negatives were that twice we had chicken and both times it was undercooked; they play music around the pool which isn't always welcome and is too loud - two songs even seemed had swear words in which isn't appropriate at all; they also do fitness classes around the pool which are clearly disruptive and unwelcome. Despite the bars been open, they don't serve coffee first thing which is when you may want it and the coffee in the restaurant is foul.
Its a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The room was lovely and all in all, we would certainly stay here again. It seems a little more private than other hotels we walked past. The 'lucky lucky' men are a pain so walking around the streets isn't enjoyable, but security on the hotel stops them coming onsite. The entertainment is every night and is enjoyable and there's a nice range of drinks to try.

" 3/4 Stars! Staff are fantastic! All are very polite and helpful though not all fluent in English but always able to ask a colleague if unsure. Hotel seems fairly new, grounds and pool area are very clean and well kept and comfortable to be in. There is a lot of construction work going on around at the front of the building as we are told the area is being developed a lot! Room is nice and clean as is the bathroom. Beds are a little hard but good for your back. The sofas are not very comfortable but are still OK. The food unfortunately is not great, however the pool bar has pizza which seemed the most popular meal for everyone during the day. The hotel is located right by the beach and has an additional building on the beach housing a beach bar where you can utilise your all inclusive pass to get drinks. All in all a nice hotel and so far enjoying our stay! Would recommend a stay here! "
