" My boyfriend and I were one of the big winners of the 4 night/5 day certificate with any Bahia Principe hotel.
We were thrilled & ready to stay for an extended vacation and then it all started!!!
What an ordeal, what a hoax and big waste of our valuable vacation time! We were given the complete run around when attempting to meet with various staff on a couple of occasions. Often we were left sitting in chairs waiting for the appropriate management with their paperwork. A couple of times the staff/paperwork were not available so were told to return at a later time then later date.
This free stay offer is for specific dates, typically in low season. Unfortunately.....or should I say conveniently selected by the Bahia hotels during times in which there are NO flights available.
Needless to say this was probably our first and last visit to a Bahia Principe Resort.
In all honesty the hotel itself was okay but it was the lies and bullcrap that came from the Bahia that makes us not want to return!!!! "

" We went as a couple for a getaway.The service was absolutely amazing. The food was really good. The entertainment was great each night! The view from our Balcony was breathtaking. " Nothing but great things to say about this resort. Incredible staff (cannot say enough about how welcoming and attentive they are), food/drinks are excellent and there are lots of choices, resort is extremely clean and safe, rooms have beautiful views and are very clean. The resort is smaller which means there aren't long line ups for things (food, bar, lobby) and the staff really get to know you. It is also situated on the top of a hill with a view that overlooks Samana as well as the ocean, incredibly picturesque everywhere you are in the hotel. Would definitely recommend booking here! "

" Not a huge resort but I loved it for it's cleanliness, friendly staff and great food. I also liked the fact that it was a fairly quiet, private spot with no other resorts in view.
I'd say it's great resort for couples looking to spend lots of time together just doing nothing.
This is not the place for you if you are looking for loud, crazy late-night parties, big beaches, tons of pools, jet ski or other water sports.
This is the place for you if you are looking for rest & relaxation. "

Entertainment program is excellent. The only thing average is a la carte. The buffet restaurant with new themes everyday is simply the best food.

" Great hotel, fantastic staff. Excellent food , pools and activities very well also but the beach could be better . This issue is rather related to the actual physical location but matters to me and my family.However the views of the bay and the city from almost any place at hotel complex are breath taking, day and night.Rooms are taken care of very well,excellent staff as well. Over all best staff I experienced out of my several trips to Carabean . Grand Bahia was a trip that we celebrated our 30th anniversary and it was recognized by the hotel with little extras. So as my sister in -law birthday. but it really was , not like other places we went to before.

" Just finished a 7 day stay and we were quite happy with our visit! The beach was terrible so I'd if its beach you're looking for this is not your place.... but the pool and facilities were amazing and the scenery was incredibly beautiful. Food was good. Lots of stairs so lots of exercise to work off the food. The entrainment was great! Eduardo and Adrian kept us entertained all week! And Luisa is the Bahia scouts did a great job with our kids. Thank you Adrian for keeping our family smiling and having fun all week! Will definitely come back as long as Adrian is there to keep us smiling and dancing :) "

" We purchased a package with Air Canada vacations for this resort and the experience was amazing! We got a direct bus to and from the airport and also had a liaison with Air Canada who spoke English, French, and Spanish, which was really helpful. Other than that, the location is beautiful and tucked away with amazing views of the ocean. We went in the middle of July for a week and the resort was super relaxing and quiet. The food in the buffet was fantastic and the à la carte restaurants were also amazing too with some of the best restaurant service we've ever experienced! We didn't experience any problems with our room but when other people that we had met on the trip had experienced problems, the staff were extremely gracious and accommodating to them. The resort itself is smaller than other resorts that I've been to, but that was a perk since you really got to know the staff and we felt that they, especially the Animation Team, really put an effort into ensuring that you were having a fun time. Overall, our vacation was a wonderful time in paradise! "

" It's kinda hard to put into words how amazing this place is to all the senses. The staff is incredibly pleasant, helpful, kind & friendly. The facilities themselves are breath-taking. Located in the north part of the country and sharing panoramic views with the likes of other exotic locations. The quality, amount & variety of food will guarantee you will be using your gym membership overtime upon returning home. I couldn't be happier with our stay and hope to come back to visit other Bahia Principe locations!!! "

" First and foremost, you have to drive 2 hours to the location or pay a couple hundred bucks for a taxi if you do not pay for transport with the hotel which they do not tell you when booking, second if you do not speak Spanish, good luck communicating with anyone. The pool was never really clean, the drinks were watered down, the beds are like plywood, and there is no water pressure in the showers. The beach is terrible and there is nothing to do around the resort. The French restaurant was awful and the only good food we had was at the seafood restaurant. The entertainment was nonexistent and on top of that, the buffet was food that seemed like it was microwaved. I will not ever be going back to this resort. This was a waste of time and money. This is a dated and very uncomfortable hotel. In no way is this a 5 star resort, which they claim. "

" Overall this is a lovely resort, however it is located in an area where there isn't a lot to see within walking distance. The town of Samana doesn't have many tourist friendly places, the few shops it has selling towards tourists are very expensive and generic.
The resort itself is very clean, well kept, great service, nice beach and attentive staff.
A few draw backs are the $28 you have to pay to use your in room safe, $79 for a week of wifi, the golf cart buggy service; sometimes this runs frequently and sometimes they seem to vanish. When your room is 118 steps (I did count) from reception it is very useful and needed.
The beaches are fairly small and it's not possible to walk between the two without using the lift and a walk down all the steps, however this isn't really a bad thing.
If you want a holiday where you never leave the resort then this is perfect, however if you like exploring, eating in local restaurants and walking around this isn't suited for you. "

" It was a fantastic week. We went out of the beautiful hotel as we wanted to see how the ordinary people leave and we found the town safe, friendly, but not well kept (too much rubbish).Also, the banks were useless in regards of selling $. I had very long 30 min waiting for service, as the cashier could not find the code for England. I really enjoyed to see that they have codes for countries that don't exist on the map anymore, but they miss to add the UK's code. I am sure you want to read more about the hotel, well, I would say the hotel is just amazing. We liked everything except the free internet- the only down side of perfect service. Also, please make sure the drivers from our return journey politely been asked to speak quietly and not to drain the attention to themselves. The woman with learning disability shouted twice to them to shut up. In addition I want to say that I was impressed by one of the chefs who kindly told me the recipe for cooking a particular dish. Thank you for the lovely service. "

" What a great resort!! First of all, the website does justice to the resort, what you see is what you get!! I love the uniqness of not having the beach attached but having to take an elevator ride down to the beach!! The staff was very kind and always ensured that they inquire about your stay so far and whether there is anything they can do to enhance your stay. My husband and I spent one week and we thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided especially the Michael Jackson show. We do have one suggestion though, the hotel should consider including karaoke in the entertainment!!! So many guests were asking for it!!! "

" Stayed for 7 nights and it was amazing! loved the room, we had a suite in the villa 32 and the view was stunning. Food was great! The only complain I had was that in the 3 restaurants , they need some more vegetarian options. I went to the Italian restaurant few times and I found the service really slow compared to other restaurants. Staff were all very friendly esp the shuttle bus drivers and Edwin. Some staff didn't speak English but always tried their best. Entertainment for the night could have been better. Overall would recommend it! "
