About Metallura Environmental Management
What does ‘Metallura' mean?Metallura baroni is a high altitude hummingbird endemic to south-centralEcuador, currently considered endangered. Our idea was to name our project after something unique from our region but which also represents current environmental challenges. The name Metallura combined with ‘Environmental Management' portrays our competence to offer solutions to environmental issues, balance the needs of our society and the environment, and express critical opinions and values that characterize professionals committed to the conservation of nature.Our HistoryMetallura – Environmental Management Team ofcially started on October 8th, 2015. Initially, the members were gathered at the call of their peer Environmental Engineering students from Universidad de Cuenca to voluntarily join the team. The objective was to take action against the environmental challenges that we face nowadays, with a team formed for and by students. We believe that action is worth more than a thousand words, and for thisreason we decided to surpass our passive good intentions and work with the motivation and participation of our team members and our community in the pursuit of a better world.MissionTo give solutions to environmental issues that the city of Cuenca and the region face, taking actions to preserve the natural ecosystems with social and environmental benefts through research, critical analysis, and the active participation of each member
