Savonlinnan Orkesteri rakentuu Savonlinna-kvartetin soittajista sekä Savonlinnan Soitannollisen Seuran harrastajasoittajista. Orkesterissa soittaa lisäksi Savonlinnan musiikki- ja tanssiopiston opettajia ja oppilaita sekä ammattilaisia.Orkesteri konsertoi noin kuusi-seitsemän kertaa vuodessa. Savonlinna-kvartetti on v. 1993 perustettu ammattijousikvartetti, joka konsertoi Andrei Nikulin I viulu, Eeva Vesamäki II viulu, Katja Inkala alttoviulu, Ilkka Vesioja sello.Savonlinna Orchestra is formed around Savonlinna-quartet and teachers and students of the Savonlinna Music Institute as well as amateur musicians. The Orchestra has six to seven concert productions a year.Savonlinna Quartet is a professional string quartet founded in 1993. It gives concerts throughout the year at the Savonlinna area and neighbouring cities and communes. Members of the quartet work as section leaders in the Savonlinna Orchestra as well as teachers at the Savonlinna Music Institute. Always ambitiously aiming for high quality, the quartet has established and long occupied a leading position in the musical life of Savonlinna. Savonlinna Quartet has premiered a number of works written and dedicated especially for it, and it's recordings of music by Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov and Väinö Raitio (2000) and Sergey Rachmaninov and Aulis Sallinen (2010) have gained nationwide attention and respect for featuring works previously unrecorded by Finnish ensembles. Savonlinna Quartet gives 50-60 performances a year, including private events and concerts of the Savonlinna Orchestra.
