The Aalto University School of Science (Aalto SCI) is the largest of the six Aalto University schools with a strong focus on high impact research. The School attracts highly talented students to its 3700+ student body and it has a very strong track record in both research and education.
In the School of Science you can complete a Bachelor of Science (Technology) in Finnish/Swedish and a Master of Science (Technology) degree in Finnish/Swedish/English. The postgraduate degrees taken at the School of Science are mainly the Licentiate of Science (Technology) and Doctor of Science (Technology).
The School of Science has extensive research fields with key areas in computing and modelling, material physics, energy science, ICT, software and media technologies, neuroscience and brain imaging technologies and technology-based business and entrepreneurship. The high quality of research is reflected in several Centres of Excellence and Academy Professors appointed by the Academy of Finland. The School hosts a National Centre of Excellence in Education, three Centres of Excellence in Research – and is a key partner in two other such centres – and includes the world-famous low temperature research unit O. V. Lounasmaa Laboratory. In addition, the School is home to the EIT ICT Labs Helsinki Node.
