I've got some lovely new vinyl in stock this week, including several LPs by the ever-popular Beatles. That copy of Magical Mystery Tour is so nice I may decide to keep it for myself...And if that wasn't enough, we've finished redecorating our downstairs room. So if you have a passion for freshly cooked Cambodian food, the Fab Four or the smell of new carpet, then you really ought to visit Angkor Soul today.

We just finished our mural in Altrincham! People often ask what Angkor Soul means, Angkor Soul is the culture, history, food, and people of Cambodia. The Angkor Kingdom was once the largest Kingdom in all of Southeast Asia, large parts of Thailand, and Vietnam once belonging to the kingdom. Cambodia unfortunately through centuries of war, colonialism, and genocide, has left the country destitute. Food, Art, and Music, remains the Soul of any nation.

Sorry to have to ask this again, but could we remind customers to let us know as soon as reasonably possible if they cannot make their reservation. This allows us to take customers from our standby list, or walk-ins. We are a small business and vacant tables are very costly. Many thanks.

Many have asked if our Altrincham location will have the same menu, the answer is Yes and No. All of our mains will be the same, but we will have a Kuthiew menu, which is traditional Cambodian noodles in a rich broth cooked overnight. Similar to the Vietnamese Pho, but my bias opinion much more flavorful. We will also have Vegan Kuthiew, been testing recipes till perfection. Please spread the word.

Ramps or known as Wild Garlic are in season! They remind me of Garlic Chives which is very popular in Asian cuisine. We just got some freshly foraged wild garlic and putting it in a lot of our specials. Come grab some lunch with us, we're located close to canal, and park. One of the specials today Chicken Cha Kutiew, sautéed rice noodles with chicken, wild garlic, tamarind, bean sprouts, and peanuts.

I have a love/hate relationship with Cambodian desserts as it mimicks nothing of western desserts I grew up eating in America. It lacks butter, softness, and extreme sweetness you often get in western desserts. We have made a radical decision to get rid of all the things that taste yummy like tarts, cakes etc, and have all Cambodian base desserts. When you own an ethnic restaurant you feel pressure to please, and offer things people are comfortable with. We represent a cuisine that is virtually unknown in the UK, and we want to stay true, and authentic to the experience. So we are recipe testing till we get it down just right. This is L'pauw Songqua, Asian Pumpkin filled with Custard. On the menu today.

Happy Cambodian New Year! It's very traditional to bring a dish to your local temple, and after the monks have eaten, the crowd shares everything that was brought. Traditional dishes of chicken kari with rice noodle, stuffed bitter melons, sautéed glass noodles with mushrooms and dried shrimp.
