" I have just had a very unsatisfactory experience at Aqua Vale. Today is a school inset day so I called yesterday to check that the pool and all the activities would be open in the morning before I dragged 3 teenagers along. We arrived and paid but within 20 minutes one of the kids shouted to say it was freezing cold, filthy and nothing was working. I asked the reception to turn on the lazy river (at least) which she advised she would after she advised the large slides were not active until after 4pm! The kids managed to last an hour which was an achievement however the lazy river hadn't been on at all during that time nor anything else which would have made it more entertaining. They complained the water was very dirty as were the showers and surrounding tiled areas. The water was icy cold and the whole experience incredibly disappointing. I asked for my money back which was returned and I did suggest they train the telephone staff better and perhaps had a deep clean! I will not be returning. "

" Second and last time we will be visiting aqua vale swimming baths. On entering the venue we asked if the pool heating was on (on previous occasions it has not been and was uncomfortably cold) we have 2 children who are 4 and 2.
On entering the changing area we had to hunt around for a relatively clean room. None of the baby changing rooms were usable due to old nappies and general detritus left in them which we were not prepared to clear ourselves. This resulted in us using two small changing rooms to get ready.
On getting in the children's pool we were not shocked to find that it was cold AGAIN even though we were assured that it was 29 degrees!! It was definitely not that warm and the ambient temperature was cold so getting out of the water was uncomfortable.
Whilst swimming we noted that there was a dirty floor around the pools (do not appear to have been cleaned in some time) old plasters on the floor and a dead spider in the pool. 😮
We bought these concerns to the manager and although he listened, it was quite clear he wouldn't be doing anything to rectify the matter. It was also mentioned that another family who were in the pool with us (with a 1 year old boy) had to get out after a short while because of the cold water. His lips had started to go blue!!!
All in all a not very good experience. I remember being a youngster and going to the swimming baths and it being almost too warm inside. This is not the case at aqua vale!! Will be taking my custom elsewhere in future which is a shame as the pools do have the potential to be nice and are well kitted out for toddlers. Never mind!! "

" Pool design: 5* Best I have been to. Loads of fun.
Water: 5* lovely and warm, nowhere too deep, looked clean.
Parking: 2* Not enough spaces, £2 for 2 hours (half spent in queue) more than 2 hours prices rocket. No offer to refund parking.
Service: MINUS 5* 65 minutes in queue. Not a very long queue, just one person serving, very, very slowly.
Cleanliness: MINUS 5* Changing rooms dark, cramped, utterly filthy (mud, old plasters, tissues, mildew). Pool tiles and grout dirty.
Overall: Should be fantastic, but really let down by how it's run.

" The gym equipment is actually good and there is a good atmosphere.
However the pool is poor quality. It's dirty, as are the changing rooms. It's designed for kids (great for families, bad for adults), very poorly lit and the customer service is very poor.
It's also expensive. If you have a family or just LOVE swimming and live in Aylesbury then it will do.
If you're interested in just the gym side of it, then look around as there are much nicer gyms that are cheaper. "
