" Excellent stay from start to finish. Discount on food and drink was an unexpected bonus. Fab room with large bathroom, loved the quirky mirror. Comfortable bed and pillows and lovely thick curtains to keep out the light. Food in brasserie was superb and staff were attentive and friendly.. highly recommend, "

" The staff are excellent and very attentive, Megan on reception was great and gave us a brief history lesson about the hotel.
the restaurant is contemporary and bright and the menu is sufficiently extensive. However as with many restaurants in this country the staff don't really know the food well enough to describe it to customers.
Breakfast was big and tasty but could be warmer.
That said we had a great but too short visit to this hotel. "

" We stopped here at the end of March, 2017. It is a lovely looking building, with a fab reception and some very lovely rooms that would be beautiful for a wedding.
However, the room we stayed in - a double was painfully small, so much so that we could hardly sit in the chair that was supplied to fit under the dressing table area. The room was above the restaurant and had the constant drone of the extractor fan going on until it was turned off late at night, only to come on again for breakfast.
Breakfast was OK quantity wise, but the bacon was microwaved and all the breakfast items were just piled in the centre of the plate, on top of one another.
The location is ok - some might say outstanding if you are there to golf - we weren't. It sits on one golf course, with another very nearby. If you are going here for a beach experience, then don't expect too much. Yes, there is a beach, but there are also just great slabs of concrete to stop coastal erosion. They may be doing their job, but they are not very attractive looking.
Depending upon what you want to do here, you will need a car to get to New Brighton, just up the road - worth a visit but not a lot to do there if you aren't messing around on the beach.
Hoylake is up the coast, again you'll need a car, unless you want to walk about 5 miles along the coast to get there. Once again its worth a visit, but is very spread out with not much to do there..... unless you want to golf! "

" I was brought here as a surprise by my husband for my 30th birthday. The castle is spectacular, the views are stunning and the grounds are beautiful. The reception staff were kind and helpful. Our room was nice, would of appreciated a bigger than standard double bed and the shower is a tight squeeze but aside from that the sea views were lovely. We had dinner in the restaurant which is obviously a locals favourite and the food is amazing. Breakfast on the Saturday was limited in regards to a kings breakfast but not much portion size however the quality is amazing. Unfortunately the experience was tarnished by a wedding being held on the Saturday night, we did not know this until returning home at about 8pm and the reception being held on the first floor about 4 rooms along from our room. There was no prior warning, if there was we would of stayed out longer and the reception went on till 1am with people outside our room until 2am. This let the experience down as if we had known we would of moved rooms to a different floor at the other end of the castle and would of had no issues at all. Breakfast on the Sunday was a buffet and was delicious. All in all a lovely place but the communication and lack of thought on the other guests stay let my experience down. "
