" I experienced the polar opposite of the previous review. What I saw was anything but what you might consider a ‘professional service’. Having NEVER purchased a house before, it is safe to say that a high value purchase, such as this, was not one that was going to be agreed upon at the first port I stopped off at. I think that’s quite fair to say, right? Not for £250k. Not right there, and not right then. I would have to be a fool to go in there and say “yes let’s do that” when I’d barely considered my options, or had a feel for the landscape with which I was entering.
So then, here is the tale of my trip to Mortgage Solutions Centre.
I had a limited knowledge of the best deals available to me, but what WAS clear is that the director, Tony D’Amato, was not able to provide me with any better deals than those I had already seen on the price comparison sites; he had nothing else up his sleeve as a broker it would seem. Don’t be fooled, this is NOT the reason for my negative review. Far from it (that part is just the detail really).
I actually wouldn’t have minded that part so much if it were not for the guy’s manner. ‘Rude’ is not a large enough word – he was downright aggressive with me. He was aggressive because I didn’t buy into his pushy sales manner. He wanted me to pay his broker fee right away, and to go ahead with one of the deals during this initial meeting. Well it is my right to say ‘no’ and to not be bullied into anything, especially when he seemed so desperate to secure me as a client. He seemed rather erratic and dropped his price from £250 to £100 in a heartbeat. I believe he may have then even wavered it. After I continued to re-state that I was going to need to weigh up my options, he then became very aggressive, stating “this isn’t a charity” and expressed his anger at my having wasted his time. He did this passive aggressive thing after that (really I should have left by this point) by looking at the screen, punching in some details, and saying: “Sorry.. I just thought we were going ahead with this today, clearly I’ve got my wires crossed.. I have been with you nearly an hour you see.. I don’t really give out free information, but I must have misunderstood..” (read that out in a real sarcastic way and you’ll see what I had to sit through).
Trust me, the irritation of the DIY mortgage would have been nothing when compared to having to sit for another second in a room with this gentleman.
I never called him back and he then emailed me at work, expecting me to want to go ahead after he spoke to me so appallingly. "
