" I visit the Giants Fireplace Bar at the Mermaid multiple times per year. It is a cosy, warm setting by a roaring fire in the colder months. The bar is decorated with pikes, swords and other items from it's medieval past, and the bar serves local and imported beers. Strongly recommend a night here. "

" Had a great overnight stay at the mermaid inn. Really nice quirky hotel / inn, with lots of character and history. Rooms were comfortable, but those creaky floorboards (part of the character, I know!) meant I didn't get the best nights sleep. Breakfast was ok, not a lot of choice in the buffet part but tasty. "

" Second visit to this restaurant, though the last time was many years ago. The ambiance is old-school, but friendly, and the pub itself extremely quaint. The vegetarian options were inventive and delicious. I started with a light salad of pickled vegetables, goats curd and beans. The main was a cheese souffle in a rich and creamy mushroom sauce. Desserts are worth the indulgence if you have space. Good wine, romantic and fine dining atmosphere. Perfect! "

" Brilliant hotel! Every room is different and very charming. Creaky doors and low beams adorn the place. Great food and bar, and the staff are all very welcoming and engaging! Would stay again and again - 5 stars "

" Lovely place, friendly and helpful staff and great location but very pricey. The place has plenty of history and amazing rooms with on suites but no tour guide around. It has a good lounge area and bar though and nice courtyard feature in the middle of the building. "
