" Excellent service, I bought a Fjallraven anorak online just before Christmas, I received the item within a couple of days of placing the order, unfortunately it was far too big. I phoned The Mountain Factor and was told to send it back and they would ship out the correct size when that size was in stock, being the impatient type I chose a different coat and phoned them again, they had one in my size and colour left. as I said being the impatient type I wanted the jacket before Christmas (it was the 23rd December), the gentleman I spoke to told me they had received the anorak I had returned and that a refund was going through, I mentioned the jacket I wanted and he said they would take it out of stock and place it to one side and would send it out to me after Christmas. Being only 50 odd mile away I said I would drive up on Christmas Eve. I arrived at the shop just after nine, the staff were very polite and welcoming, I started my tale about the return and the chap serving me straight away knew what I was talking about, he went to the back and brought out the jacket, it fit perfectly, he bagged it up and wished me all the best for Christmas and left I a happy bunny. I will definitely be recommending this shop to my friends, I cannot fault The Mountain Factor "

" This shop stocks some quality gear but the service is extremely poor. Having spent at least £60 on various items I purchased 3 pairs of Ice breaker boot socks in the sale. When i got home i realised I'd accidentally bought two medium and one large, so went back to exchange the the large pair the next day. Unfortunately the receipt was still in the the bag (I'd thought it was in my wallet). Anyhow the manager (who served me the day before) refused to exchange them. They were in original packaging and had not been touched. And this was despite being told by another member of staff that they would exchange them no problem. I drove 20 miles out of my way to return to Ambleside and the manager's approach was frankly disgraceful. Beware of this shop - i have never received such poor customer service in years. "
