" My 78 year old father is suffering from Parkinson’s and as such has a disturbed sleep pattern, he has recently purchased a medical mattress that will help him sleep better. Because it is a medical grade mattress that will help with his condition, he is entitled to claim the vat back! To do this he is required to give a form to his medical practice for a doctor to confirm he suffers from Parkinson’s, sign the form and endorse with the surgery stamp! My father was informed that this service would cost £30, I have phoned the practice and have been informed that this is in fact the case as it is private work! I am totally appalled by this, any financial benefit my father gets for his condition is reduced my this surgery! Is this what the NHS has come to? disgraceful! "
