I have been riding since I was 5 years old and began helping out at a riding school from the age of 7.
I have recently finished High School and currently work a part-time job so that I can pursue my passion for horse riding before furthering my education in the future. The horses I have been trying to compete for the past few years have been extremely unfortunate and often suffered from freak injuries and illnesses. Therefore my goal for this year, which I am determined to achieve and hopefully surpass, is to compete at the British Eventing Novice level and then progress as far as I can.
I have not developed as much as I had hoped for at this stage in my riding career - it has been a difficult journey so far. After my first pony, who was 13h, I then skipped a stage and took on a young 16h ex race horse, King, to retrain. I felt a connection with him and didn’t want to miss the opportunity to work with, and love for, such a bright horse. He had previously been brought onto the yard by my instructor, after seeing his potential I was desperate to take him on to retrain and start my eventing career. I had him for about a year when I did my first BE80 which, due to injuries, was his last. Much to my heartbreak, King started to go lame on all 4 legs and the vet said there was no option other than he be put to sleep.
I took time away from riding as I needed severe foot surgery which left me on crutches for 12 weeks. Once I was back on my feet and given the all clear, I decided once again that I was ready to start eventing. After 8 months of recovery I began the search for a new event horse. I found this beautiful grey warmblood, Demo, who had already competed in a bit of eventing that seemed the perfect fit for me. I have currently done two BE90’s at the end of 2017 and looking forward to starting 2018 at BE100.
I am very lucky as my family and riding instructor, Carly Adams have been extremely supportive and willing throughout my ups and downs and I know they are always very supportive.
