" Beautiful setting. The castle itself is a ruin. But the bay is stunning on a good sunny day. "

" More a review of Loch Ranza, although the castle is worth a visit.

Lots of visitor moorings for yachts and a small jetty.

It can get windy, especially from the south and west. However, the mooring buoys are solid.

A hotel/pub and a sandwich shop offer some food and drink.

Some nice freshwater swimming in the nearby gorge.

Well worth a visit by sea or land. "

" Scotland has a lot of castles in all shapes sizes etc.
This one is perfect at a nice sunset with the river mouth, tiny harbour, hills on the mainland all around you. Its on a little spit of land in the middle of a valley of towering slopes and that aloan sets the scene but catch it at full moon, a misty morning or a nice sunset and its a magical place to relax "

" Really interesting and very very scenic. Have a walk around the coastline and you will get some great reflections of the castle in the water at high tide. "

" These are nice remains of a castle sited at the mouth of a small river. The scenery is stunning and if you get here on a gloomy day, the setting is eerie. On a sunny day, the spot is perfect for pictures.
Lochranza can be reached by car or bike on a day trip from the ferry terminal (in the summer, longer days). There are some bus services as well.
As it is ruins, do not expect a fancy museum. "
