After backpacking through the highlands for a week, we decided luss would be a great spot to spend the last night before heading home. This was the worst decision we made for the whole trip. Not because of the location, which was beautiful, but because of the service.
I don't expect much, but I would expect a business to be a little keener to look after customers, rather than belittle them.
As non members we were prepared to jump through a hoop or two, but not 6,567 hoops....
I was almost ridiculed by the lady who shown us to our pitch after she discovered that my tent wasn't 100% in line with the peg. As she almost had a panic attack I looked around to see an almost empty field and explained we were within the criteria we were originally given. There needed to be 6 meters between the next tent.... I estimated about 200 meters.
Further down the line, my parents met up with us who had also been travelling the highlands. More huffing and puffing ensued from said lady.
No trailer tents allowed for non members, no wheels on grass for non members... we offered to sign up. 24 hours notice required... maybe to let the grass prepare itself???
I always imagined the camping community to be more easy going. Not elitist.
After speaking to other campers on the site who were members, they also shared these views and did say they were considering wether or not to renew their membership.

" Nice site on the lochside, toilets very clean and tidy but a bit dated, poor TV reception and wifi is pricey, 5 min walk into luss beautiful village. Only warning the midges lol "

" Beautiful location right next to the loch. Clean shower and toilet facilities. We found the site manager and staff friendly and helpful. The village is only a short walk away and we had a splendid boat ride on the loch in glorious sunshine. Loved it! "
