We still have very little left for us is this warm Cretan blooming. It is most pleasant to look at it from the garden of Atrium.

STARTER

Beef Carpaccio, the most perfect Italian style starter, consists of thinly sliced raw beef drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice.

The original carpaccio was invented by Venetian hotelier Giuseppe Cipiani. The story goes that Cipriani invented the dish in 1963 for a friend, Amalia Nani Mocenigo, who had been advised by her doctors to eat raw meat.

He called it “Carpaccio” after the 15th-century Venetian painter, Vittore Carpaccio, whose work was the subject of an art exposition at the time, saying that the contrasting red and white of his new dish reminded him of the painter’s work.

Let's meet Joanna! The queen of smile and positive mood.😁

She was born in Albania but at the age of 1 year, her parents moved to Koutouloufari, Crete. So she knows all the secrets of our village.

Her personal credo is "Life is too short not to laugh" and in these hot days, she presents our Passion Mango Mojito.

These Mango Mojitos are the perfect libation for when you want a cool, thirst-quenching drink with the freshness of mint and fruit!

If you’ve never tried mango in a cocktail before, it definitely needs to go on your bucket list. The sweet, floral flavour tastes like it was meant for a mojito. It pairs perfectly with the fresh mint and lime juice, making it wonderfully refreshing!

GREEK SALAD

The authentic Greek salad or what we call it as ‘Horiatiki’, which means village salad – basically a combination of tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, green peppers, olives and feta cheese, dressed in olive oil and sprinkled with oregano.

Other common ingredients include bell peppers, berries, or capers, which are especially popular in the Dodecanese Islands.

It is one of the most popular and well-known Greek dishes outside and inside Greece.

Noticeably, the ingredients of a Greek salad resemble those that a Greek farmer would have on-hand. Because of this, it is often thought that Greek salad was a farmer’s breakfast or lunch, and grew in popularity from that origin.

Cats in Crete provide some of the most iconic images of Greece and Greek Island life. The first evidence of domestic cats in Crete has been dated to around 1800-1700 BC. The cats were loved by Minoan civilization and you can see a lot of amulets and pictures in the historical places like Knossos or Palace of Malia.

Unfortunately, our cat doesn't have an original name😿. Let's give him one!
