Earlier today, #Kalamata #Drama International Summer School 2019, ended up, with the most beautiful way! With the open course of the Classical Lab, under the guidance of Argyro Chioti in the spectacular Archaiological Site of Ancient Messene. And before that our students had their last warm-up led by Gabrielle Moleta and Adrienne Thomas. At this point we would like to thank publicly, our amazing tutors team. The fantastic Course Leader of KaDISS and Scene Study teacher Mr An...drew Visnevski, the Classical Lab tutor Mrs Argyro Chioti, the Vocal Performance and Verse tutor Mrs Andrienne Thomas and the Physical Performance and Transformation tutor Mrs Gabrielle Moleta. Also the volunteers of the #Maria #Callas Alumni Association of the Music School of Kalamata. Last but not least, the great Sponsor of KaDISS 2019, the George and Victoria #Karelia Foundation. Dear friends, for our final week of KaDISS 2019 we have organised 2 special open classes for you. The first one, Scene Study /Shakespeare led by Andrew Visnevski. Thursday 5th of September, will take place in the building of the Phiharmoniki, 13.00 to 16.00. Admission free. There's only a limited number of seats, so please contact us and make your reservation.

"Although on the Timetable the days look the same, each day is different. In Scene Study the rehearsals are progressive from day to day: new exercises are set from day to day and new scenes and monologues explored. The Movement and Voice Classes develop in complexity and in demand from day to day, complementing the Scene Study work. The same applies to the Classical Theatre Lab which is based on developing practice and Movement and Voice, expanding approach by embracing this area of exploration. Each year different plays will be chosen to explore, rehearse and perform in Scene Study and the Classical Lab. The skills’ classes complement the plays, so each year the course acquires a different tone and students may well wish to return to benefit from further development and diverse practice." Info: The Municipal Theatre of Kalamata was founded in 1984. It has two stages, the Central and New one. Plays of Greek and global drama and performances for children are presented in these stages during the winter season. During the summer a classic play of the Municipal Theatre of Kalamata is presented in the amphitheater of the castle. The plays of the winter season are presented in Kalamata, in region and surrounding prefectures and often in Athens, while the summer play is presented not only in Kalamata, but also in major festivals and cultural events of our country. So far the Municipal Theatre of Kalamata has presented 150 plays of Greek and global drama. Basic guideline of its activity is an attempt to combine entertaining, informative and instructive nature of theater. On the occasion of the plays, various events (conferences – debates , exhibitions and screenings ) are organized by the Municipal Theatre of Kalamata and the magazine “Theatrical Kalamata” is published offering a complete presentation of theatrical performance. The Main Stage of the Municipal Theatre of Kalamata is housed in the old factory of Electricity Company at Dimosthenous street while the New Stage is in the amphitheater of the building of the Municipal Philarmonic Band. As enhancement to the Course, one class will take place in the Open air stage of the Castle of Kalamata and one more in the main stage of the Municipal Theatre of Kalamata. The point of reference in the town is the legendary “Castle of Isabeau” (the Kastro). It is constructed on the site of the acropolis of ancient Pharai offering a bird’s eye view of the city. The fortress was built in the 13th century by the occupying Franks and underwent subsequent additions and conversions by the Venetians and the Turks. Today, it is the venue of an open-air stage for drama, music and dance.
