" Very clean hostel. Rooms nicely decorated with local textiles but tiny. Poor options for clothes storage..few or no place to hang things up although I was given 3 hangers to hang off curtain rail..which was precarious as had to stand on chair to do..and turned room into something resembling a market stall. Little chance of peace and quiet as walls of rooms v thin and as families go there kids running around can be a pain. Also lots of noise from adjoining neighbours courtyard. Staff nice and friendly in the main. Breakfast good but if staying a few days gets boring. No cereal options. Beds very hard so suffered some backache. Toilets downstairs only and communal. Staff constantly cleaning and maintaining meaning little privacy and forget a peaceful lie in.
Ok for a night or two. Location decent but then its a small city.
Also a travel agency however prices are higher than you can find elsewhere.
Quite expensive overall for what you get. "

" We loved it so much we went back for a few extra days. The ladies who run this hostel never stop, they are constantly cleaning and making it spotless and they are so hard working and will do anything to make your stay comfortable.
The rooms are great, we stayed in five different rooms as we kept extending our stay and loved all of them. There are only two showers but we only ever had to wait a couple of times so we never found it a problem. There is a huge breakfast every morning and a wonderful terrace with views of volcanos. They have onsite tours and can organise shuttles for you. The showers are super powerful and hot and it’s extremely quiet so we got some great nights sleep. The bathrooms were mopped and hand towels changed every hour it seemed and even the shower curtain changed every other day... amazing place and would definitely recommend. Thank you Yellow House. "

" Sofi is the manager and she runs it perfectly. She is hard working, she knows all about all you need to know in Guatemala, she is helpful like no others, she is professional and I firmly believe she could be a good manager in a much larger and more luxury hotel. You will be served like nowhere else in Guatemala and the ladies who do de cleaning and prepare and serve the breakfast are just as perfect too. Without them the Yellow House would be just another backpacker room for the night. "

- great location on edge of town
- very friendly and helpful staff
- breakfast included with fresh eggs, pancakes, fruit, beans, tomatoes, potatoes & onions
- good wifi throughout
- relax and chill area with hammocks
- not a party hostel. Most of guests respect the need for quiet
Cons:
- breakfast is the same every day
- breakfast is meant to be served at 7am but quite often it's a little late and service is slow which means you have to be first in line if you have an 8am shuttle
- bathrooms are on ground floor, worth noting if you book a first floor room "

" This place was fabulous! I've stayed in many hostels over the years, and this one is very memorable to me. It's adorable, with a nicely decorated and well composed terrace space for travelers to convene. There are lots of beautiful potted plants all over, and the beds are comfy. The breakfast provided with my stay was absolutely delicious and very abundant. The quality of the travelers was top notch, totally my vibe. Some down to go out and party which was nice, but most importantly everyone kept it chill and low key in the home space. I would stay here again and again. "
