" This was my girlfriend and I's first visit to La Fortuna and we were blown away by how beautiful and well done everything is. The gardens are pristine and the architecture is gorgeous. The views are beautiful especially if you are an early riser and wake to take in the lake and volcanoes to the sound of the early morning birds. The service at the hotel is top notch and the food was delicious. I'm already looking forward to my next trip back. "

" This is the first spot my fiance and I visited as soon as Guatemala started (slowly) reopening for tourism. It wasn't our first visit, and based on the standards I saw previously I knew I could trust it for a peaceful, isolated, safe, hygienic, and worry-free escape.
It definitely won't be our last visit, either. That's because every single time, La Fortuna is one of those places where when the water taxi turns into the private bay, and we see the thatched roof of the reception building nestled in between the soaring cliffs, we turn to each other and say, "How is this our life?"
What's more, that feeling never fades while we're there. Whether we we're sipping house-farmed coffee and eating macadamia pancakes on the porch of our bungalow, or drinking mimosas on the dock, or swimming and throwing sticks for the dogs in the perfectly clear 73° water, it's All. Just. Perfect. The owners' impeccable taste and the staff's friendly, unobtrusive attention to detail made our stay at La Fortuna, once again, the perfect getaway. "

Surrounded by nature and with a beautiful view of the most beautiful lake in the world, it makes it unique.
The food and the rooms and the attention on site make you want to return.
Super recommended and not far from Panajachel. An ideal place to disconnect from routine and connect with yourself. "

" Beautiful quaint place with an amazing location. The amenities and staff were excellent. A few small issues: the hotub wasn't really hot. It was never explained to me that solar powered meant that everything, from outlets to WiFi would be out of commission the entire night. I also feel that it's quite expensive and is arguably not worth it. However, this being said, the location, and views combined with amazing staff made it a great stay "

" Amazing place in a magical setting but really let down by interactions with the staff.
The owners have done an great job of building a beautiful 'eco lodge' on the edge of the lake. It's clear an awful lot of love and hard work has gone in to this project but it's clear the owners could benefit from more regular human interaction.
The shine was taken off our stay by interactions we had with owners and staff.
A warm greeting is such a simple gesture but on arrival it came across as though we were a burden rather than being made to feel like welcome guests.
This feeling also came across in our first interaction with the manager.
A few days in to the stay we returned from the town with a takeaway meal. This was out of necessity as we had not believed we would be back in time for dinner and therefore had not ordered the evening meal (meals must be ordered by 10am).
The pizza was to be taken to our room and we failed to understand why this would be a problem yet we were met with a very unexpected reaction from the manager who stated 'It's not that kind of hotel' and we shouldn't be taking food to our room. Having not been informed of this before and not being able to eat in the onsite restaurant (advance notice must be given) this came across as quite strange and the way in which it was communicated left a somewhat sour taste.
These are an aggregation of small issues but ones that together really did leave a bad taste in our mouth and is far from the level of service you would expect from a 2 star hotel let alone a 5 star one.
Other issues:
- Despite advertising themselves as an eco lodge they run a diesel generator day and night
- Dinner portions are small and dinner is served cold "
