Earlier last year I posted a study on the cracking of knuckles done on an MRI. Now there is a new study using a ultrasound to elaborate the knuckle cracking debate!! I have been teaching people it was from the 'formation of gas bubbles', but now the best explanation is, "cracking sound and bright flash on the ultrasound are related to the 'dynamic changes' in pressure associated with a gas bubble in the joint". Based on the certain needs for muscle as we age. We need to consume about 1.2 grams of protein for every kilogram of weight. Protein is made up of amino acids (building blocks of protein). The quantity and type of amino acids play a role in our body's composition. Leucine is the amino acid that is high in legumes, beans, dairy, beef, poultry, fish and pork. Make sure to try to eat organic, free-range, types of meats. To calculate the amount of protein a day: times your weight in pounds (200lbs) times 0.45; then times that amount by 1.2; 200lb person needs about 108grams of protein where a 100lb person needs 54grams protein.

Researchers are showing that people with chronic pain from whiplash or tennis elbow do not show any obvious tissue changes, BUT show increased inflammation in the areas of complaint via Positron Emission Tomography. So by stimulating (inhibition/activating) certain brain areas by mental/physical means, one can decrease the perception of pain and in a sense re-wire the brain to be more optimum... Awesome

Estimated that the new recommendations of Vitamin D should be closer to 10,000 IU a day as opposed to the 600-800 IU RDA (recommended daily allowance) stated by the NAS (National Academy of Sciences) and IOM (Institute of Medicine). Vitamin D is needed for bone health and an immune modulator!!!!
