MUSIC SOCIETY, A.A.H.K.U.S.U.

Founded in 1983, the Music Society, A.A.H.K.U.S.U. is a Departmental Society of the Department of Music at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and is affiliated to Arts Association, Hong Kong University Students’ Union (A.A.H.K.U.S.U.). The Society room is located in Fong Shu Chuen Amenities Centre.

The aims of the Society are as follow:

1. To promote the general welfare of the Members.
2. To develop a better relationship and understanding among the Members and the Staff.
3. To promote a better understanding among the Students who have enrolled in any courses of the Department.
4. To raise the profile of the Society in the University.
5. To promote interest in music among the Students.

The Society organizes social functions for both its members as well as Music Major students of HKU. Major annual events include:

(i) inauguration ceremony of the Society,
(ii) annual dinner for music majors, staff and executive committee members,
(iii) orientation events for incoming freshmen,
(iv) annual bazaar,
(v) welfare week provided to members of the society,
(vi) annual concerts,
(vii) fund-raising music courses provided to students who are interested in learning instruments,
(viii) annual general meeting indicating the changing of session year and executive committee members.

Besides social functions for members and Music major students of HKU, the Society also provides performers for other events and occasions that are not hosted by the Society. Previous involvements include performing festive pieces at the Global Lounge for the celebration of Lantern Festival and performing German music pieces for the German October event organized by German Association, A.A.H.K.U.S.U.

The Annual General Meeting of Music Society, A.A.H.K.U.S.U., Session 2016-2017 are also being held on 23rd November, 2017. A new group of executive committee members are elected. The current executive committee members for the session 2017-2018 are:
