Drenova had a dramatic history, especially in the 20th century where it shared the fate of the City of Rijeka - changes in state, social systems, economic opportunities. At one point, setting the border, it was cut it "in half", breaking up communities and creating traumas whose effects are visible even today. But the passage of time slowly works its - there are fewer living witnesses.The development of modern society and globalization processes at high speed and curtail deleted historical memories present in small communities. Historical facts are easy to lose and younger generations Drenovčana and Rijeka citizens have no perception of how to live, not before 200 or 1000, but not before 20 or 40 years.Old items and clothing are thrown away, disappearing customs and immigration of new population marginalized local dialect that is slowly disappearing from everyday use.
