Wastebender

Wastebender is a social enterprise that strives to realize the zero waste in Indonesia through technology and smart data. This business actualizes the responsible waste management especially at the household level which is surprisingly the largest waste contributor (48% of total waste) in Indonesia (Rasio Ridho, 2014) but only less than 1% of them sorted and processed their waste (Susenas, 2014). The lack of waste management at household level motivates Wastebender to develop an integrated electronics device called Automatic Waste Processor (AWP) that can convert organic waste into organic compost and process non-organic waste into chopped plastic easily, quickly, and efficiently. Besides selling its products, Wastebender also provides responsible waste management services: Consult (Waste Research & Recommendation in institution; CSR Partnership), Redesign (AWP custom-built), Collect (for residential or commercial areas), Create (Compost and Waste Management Program) and Educate (Wise waste campaign; event waste management).Wastebender encourages the household; corporate; commercial sector such as restaurant, hotel, café; public sector such as school, government; to manage waste independently and sustainably. This business also indirectly fosters the attitude and behavior of loving the environment in the community. It is also stretching the local economy by giving additional income through collect service and job opportunity. Wastebender also contributes actively to ensure the implementation of the circular economy and 12th SDGs (sustainable consumption and production) in Indonesia.
