" Heeren house restaurant.

I ordered take out: nyonya fried rice (chili), kangkung belacan, omelet, plain rice.
My mom fell in love especially the kangkung belacan (can taste the belacan, so tasty).
My dad likes all of it.
In general, my parents like the food and a really bonus point is that the food is not salty.
While i wait the order, the friendly staff play a really nice instrumental songs.
They dont sell pork (written on the menu). "

" The first time I saw this place because of those big Chinese writings as mural in its side wall of this Heeren House. Though I didn't even know what's the meaning of it, still they are very attractive spots for photography. 😁 "

" The location of Heeren House is right in the central area of historical Melaka but stay there only if you don't mind the risk of being bitten by bedbugs all night.

Place is on the 'old and rundown' side, which can be passed off as 'historical charm' but the owner's refusal to take responsibility for their recurring bedbug problem means that staying there is playing bedbug roulette. If you get a room that just got a visit from pest control then you're lucky and probably won't have a bad experience (providing those pesticide sprays don't have long-term adverse effects).

If you are unlucky, then you'll wake up bitten by bedbugs all over. Even if you show the owners proof (catch the bedbug and show it to them) they will just blame other guests for 'bringing in bedbugs', blame the pest control company not doing their job and act like they are the victims who can't do anything about it even though they KNOW they have a bedbug problem and still put you in that room in exchange for your money. Be warned, as 'hospitable' as they might appear at first, when it comes to it, they will not refund you what you paid for the room or offer to pay you for medication. They know that thanks to Melaka's high tourist turnover they can get away with their negligence and rent out the room later to another unsuspecting guest who hasn't heard about their problem.

Proof: Google "Heeren House bedbug" and you will see complaints from dozens of different people documenting this problem as far back as 2009 and as recent as 2015.

If you are staying at Heeren House regardless, please make sure you check the sheets for signs of bedbugs (black spots, old blood stains, live bedbugs) before turning in, and do this before the staff go home for the night so you can take steps to change rooms and save yourself the nocturnal bedbug bed-sharing experience.

Also familiarize yourself with procedures on getting rid of bedbugs from your clothing and belongings that come in contact with bedbug infested areas. Hot water cycle clothes in washing machine, vacuum every inch of your bags and shoes. You DO NOT want to bring back any bedbugs to infest your home. "
