" Sri Sunthara Moorthy Vinayagar Temple @ Jalan Bachang, Batu Berendam, is a Hindu temple devoted to Ganesha.
The temple was built on the grounds of the General Hospital in Melaka 1959. Due to expansion works at the Malacca Hospital in 1996, the temple was relocated to Bachang. Thousands of Hindu devotees took part in the consecration ceremony end of 2006. Some people say this is a much better place for Ganesh than the old one.
Ganesh Chaturthi (August-September) is celebrated as birth anniversary of Lord Ganesh, one of the best known and loved deities in the Hindu pantheon of gods, and indeed the most recognized outside of India.
Ganesh also known as Vinayagar, is the patron of arts and sciences, the deity of intellect and wisdom, identified by his elephant head.
