" Ideally placed next to busy Jonker Walk yet away from the noise and crowds. Typical good British type food and beers you expect of Sids Pubs (in KL). Staff and service a little slow but only to be expected on busy weekends. Great place for tourists to recharge batteries before heading back out to the tourist sites, which are all within walking/staggering distance. Park downriver and walk up the side road. "

One evening a local rock band was playing; the vibes were good and sitting on the beautiful terrace with some tasty draft beer while enjoying the view to and listening to great music was def. the perfect way to the day. " They sold cider. That's why we went inside.
We got our bill thinking that we were making a saving because it was suposedly all day happy hour. The drinks were more than the standard price on the menu + service charge. They should be a bit more upfront about their promotion.
Don't come here if you are on a budget.

Only thing stopping a 5 star review is that roast dinners were advertised as from 1pm onwards - missing out that they were only available on Sundays. " We dropped in a couple of days in a row for either dinner or lunch. We needed a bacon and pork sausage fix and were not disappointed. Loved the chicken liver pate as we did the bacon and egg butty, but wished we ordered two eggs on the butty. We did order other things from the menu as well and all were great. The beer was nice and cold the service was very good and the staff friendly. Oh by the way they had the cricket on the TV in the corner. "

" Had so much fun at Sid's! Great place to hang out, the staff and manager are so friendly. I didn't try the food but I hear they have good wings. They have a large selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Definitely a 'must visit' in Melaka, especially if you're a Westerner. "

" Great place for cool beers at night. Get a seat near or beside the window to the river. Have drinks whilst looking at the boats go by. Good music played and the environment in the pub is comfortable. Staff members were very attentive and helpful. Price is a little on the higher side, but the location and environment makes up for it. They also have a good food menu. "

" BEWARE OF SKIMMING - inflated prices!!
I went to this place for a happy-hour beer. When the time for payment came the waiter first introduced an extra tax for the price and then requested non-existent service free returning the change curtly. You end up paying something you didn't expect and not printed clearly but in minuscule on the backside of the menu.
The place itself claims potential for nice ambient with wind refreshingly breezing from Dutch windows. "

" I don't drink alcohol so this review is for food and ambiance only.
I was taken here by a friend, the location is great, right on the river so you can watch the tourists taking photos outside the fort on the opposite bank or wave to them as they pass by on the boats going up and down the river (even the Yang di-Pertuan Agong - King of Malaysia who passed by during our visit).
Ambiance is an attempt at an English pub modified for the tropical climate, much lighter and more open, but still with the sports on bug TV screens.
The food is typical English pub fare, I had a burger which was a generous size and very tasty, if a little on the expensive side (but I find found in Malaysia generally expensive compared to other South-East Asian countries.
Would I go back?
Probably not without exploring other options first. It wasn't enough to make me feel like it was my kind of place at first visit - remember though that I don't drink alcohol so that colours my thought process about pubs as a venue. "

" The food here is decent, but my friends and I are simply appalled by the terrible service here. We came here to chill and relax. First we asked what is the peas and cauliflower with cheese is about, the waiter replied us the exact name of the food item and told us that is all to describe. When we probed further he ROLLED HIS EYES and told us it is baked(this is actually a very useful information to tell us). We requested for it with bacon(it is included as an option on the menu for 4 ringgit, and they did not included it. When we asked him about it, he rolled his eye again and told us he will not charge us for the bacan then. Fine. When we got our receipt, we noticed it was 16 ringgit, with the menu being blur of that pricing, we thought it writes 12 dollars so we thought he charged us for the bacon, when we asked a waitress, she told us its 12 confidently too. He came to us again, rolled his eyes and insisted it is 16 again.
As much as for serving us decent food, we do not come to a bar to have them roll eyes at us. Never again will we ever visit this place the next time we visit Malacca. "
