" Great food and experience! Perfect to try different Nyonya food. We had the Nasi Lemak and the Nyonya Laksa! Both very tasty and great for us as not too much spicy.
The Pang Su Sie is delicious, as well as the Gula Melaka. Manager is great and give us so many information about Nyonya history and stories about Melaka. Really worth a visit! "

" Good nyonya kueh, comparable quality to those we tried from shops not focused on the tourist trade, which was a welcome surprise. Tea is just from bags, though, and seems your choice is green tea or not-really-tea-at-all, the ginger and lemon at least did not have any actual tea leaves inside.
We arrived at 15:30 on a Monday and two of the five kuehs offered had already sold out. So perhaps better make it an early afternoon tea.
Overall, worth a visit, and particularly strongly recommended if you think you won't make it out to a local kuih shop at some point. "

" Not located along the main Jonker Street but they make up for it with authentic Peranakan food. Come here for good food paired with excellent hospitality. This outfit is owner operated and they put in a great effort with no expense to keep and do things well.
The Pai Tee (Top Hats) were fantastic and had 8 all to myself. Highly recommended. All kuehs also of good quality and value for money. "

" The peranakan dishes and kuih were really tasty and nicely presented. The tea set offers a sampling of all their Kuihs plus a small bowl of Mee Siam, served with a pot of tea. However it's a shame that the environment is not as pleasant, it is a bit dim and stuffy, lots of mosquitos flying around. "

" Back to the cafe second time, this time for the 3-tier English style high tea. I like how they try to promote traditional dishes and kueh (nyonya cakes) in order to preserve the Peranakan culture. Sad that most tourists who visited the place treated it like a restaurant without knowing Straits Affair's true mission. "

" Best dessert I've had so far in Malaysia, hands down. I ordered the rice flour pancakes with banana and gula melaka caramel. (can't remember what they are called) The texture of the pancakes is amazing. They are light and slightly sticky, and match beautifully with the banana caramel and ice cream served with them. The owner and staff happily chatted with us, explaining their unique and traditional menu items and advising us on other places to visit. Trying this cafe is an absolute must for anyone visiting Malacca. "

" Food was nice n delicious, but very limited choice. The service was quite disappointed though. A number of items ordered were not placed in order. We had to keep checking back with the servers to find out what was ordered and what was not. And the food were served very slowly. Some of us finished eating while others were not even served. The restaurant was not huge and there weren't that many customers there when we went in. We expected a better service base on the ratings and review posted by others. "

" Was recommended to visit Straits affair by Colin from 8 Herren street - old restoration building. Lovely ambience. Wonderful staff as they are so attentive, and so friendly! A family run business and they really take time to explain the history of the food business. Fantastic food! I tried the Nyonya laksa it was delicious and a little bit spicy in which they warned me prior to ordering it. Very happy with the recommendation and would definitely come again. A must try before leaving Melaka! "
