Tongkonan Hotel was once a wooden house that now turns its function into a hotel. This traditional wooden house is very unique, like a villa at the top of the mountain. Floors, walls and roofs are all made of wood.
To help with my work, Tongkonan facilitates my accommodation well. Cheap prices, friendly service make us feel at home in Mamasa. Mrs. Anike who is making a cake with his family, took time to give 2 jars of fresh cake from the oven for us. Domingus, this hotel receptionist helps us in providing 2 motorcycles for mobilization purposes. Also never missed providing a table for us to make hot coffee and tea.
We are also welcome to use the living room to work which makes us feel like renting a house, whereas we only sleep in 3 rooms, facilities that can not be obtained with affordable room rates.
Breakfast? You will get a menu of balado fish and vegetables, or fried eggs and vegetables. Delicious, yummy.
The rooms themselves are not very spacious, 9-12 square meters with bathroom inside. No AC because the air is super cold, can reach 15 degrees Celsius. TV broadcasts are already using Cable TV, so they can watch HBO, AXN, NatGEO. Soft mattresses, pillows, and blankets are mandatory for use at night.
And guess what? They have orchid garden in backyard.
Definitely I will stay here when visiting Mamasa again. "
