It was stuffy and of course it is small but it is a local museum and it is in a historic building so it makes sense. The staff were friendly and it is cheap. Within close proximity of town centre. Town train station is 4 minutes walk and coach stops are very close. "

" To Curator /Commissioners having been a visitor to Stradbally area, Laois, October last, I was invited by my hosts to join them in Carlow, George Bernard Shaw theatre to hear Ist performance of Endurance by Brian Hughes/his musicans and narrator John Mc Kenna: it was uplifting. I was then invited to join the tour the next day: it complimented the theatre event and before I left the museum I bought the CD and met a relative of Ernest Shakleton, Barbara her Ist name.Having played the CD a number of times I'm left with the thought that there is a possibility of a 'single' coming from the work if its in your remit to do so. In short, tracks 1 and 13, first and final narrative pieces, and tracks 2 and 14 the 1st and final musical pieces fit this bill: John's diction as he puts himself in the person of Ernest is a beauty to listen to and Brians opening track, as it is described in the accompaning booklet lends for dancing to, among other things while the final track 'The Flag of the Adventurer': 'throw caution to the wind' for you will in the process make more and more people happier and they will know more about Ernest's Endurance.
