The unprecedented rapid technological developments that characterize the 21st century are transforming the world order, creating new opportunities and challenges in the fields of health and medicine.The ability to analyze big data and artificial intelligence in the prevention and diagnosis of disease and the development of personalized interventions, drugs and treatment, and the challenge of training health care providers of the future when the half-life of data is less than five years, all require novel thinking and organization.The Israeli Medical Association established the Institute of Innovation and Future Medicine in order to lead innovative projects in health and medicine and to endow physicians with the necessary skills, language and understanding to navigate their way in a changing world and improve patient care.
