In India Gas Industries are scattered throughout the country but gas engineers and professionals, working in gas or gas based industries did not have a common platform, where they can share their experiences and achievements and also can discuss about their problems. This has prevented them from collaborating closely in guiding applications of appropriate technology in the matter of exploration, processing, transportation, distribution, storage and use of different gases.
To overcome this shortcoming, gas professionals had decided to open a National level Institute and thus Indian Institute of Gas Engineers (IIGE) was established in September, 2000.
