" This is a privately owned property; the entire mansion with the art collections are held in Trust. The trustees are the family members (no outsider ) who are direct decendants of the founder. The collection is open for public viewing. Rules written at the gate. Strictly no photography anywhere in the property. There is a small zoo. Only serious renaissance period art lovers need come here. Others please stay away. Do not come here to simply hang around. Entry is free but visitors can tip at their discretion. No staff demands money as some have written in the reviews. So only if you are keen to see classical European paintings etc, do come. Else don't. It is our private property. Idle Jay walkers may be prosecuted. We maintain the place with our own money. No aid from anywhere. People who write rubbish here need to take a reality check. "

" Nice place. Lush garden, few unique animals and birds, beautiful monument (Rajbari) and a temple are there. "

" A good place with history and fine interiors. But it would be great if you could allow photography and alongside its also highly recommended if you could maintain it well and attract more people coz its very unknown to most people and people wander what exactly it is. "

" A beautiful palace and reminder of colonial era bengali house. Built by a merchant who got the title of king from the British, it houses some beautiful painting and sculptures. It has a Jagannath temple in the premises too. "

" Please carry photocopy of your ID proof. It's an exciting private art collection. At entry gate, I was told to submit this photocopy and pay the guide and gatekeeper whatever I liked. "

" A must watch site in north Calcutta....a heritage building with mighty looks... the floor of the building is mostly covered with precious Italian Marble...thus the building is named 'Marble Palace'...this building was built by Raja Rajendra Mallik in the Year 1835...he built India's first zoo inside of this building...priceless antiques are there to see for the visitors...one must get permission to visit this site... " Has very good collection of painting....there is no formal ticketing system..you have to bribe the gateman Rs 100 to get in and another 50 for the guide..the otherwise grand interior is poorly maintained..alas such a waste!! "

" Nice Palace with beautifull gardens and a zoo... like an oasis to escape the noisy city!

I was asked at the gate if i would have a touristic permission to enter which i denied! After signing in to a book i could enter but had to pay 50rs when i wanted to leave. -> minus one star! "
