" We did both a puffin tour and a whale watching tour on two different days. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Though we didn't see any big whales, we did get to see a school of dolphins very close! Make sure you put on the overalls! "

" We had a great whale watching tour this morning. It took a while but we ended up seeing a Humpback whale several times which was magnificent! Boat was comfortable and definitely recommend taking advantage of the warm overalls when going outside on deck. They have a nice canteen where you can buy drinks and snacks, and also have 6 toilets. They provide free seasickness tablets and many people took those. I didn't because I don't get seasick but with even three foot swells it got rough for a bit, so take precautions. Crew were all marine biologists and gave educational facts about the Whales as we traveled which was neat. They will also email you pictures of the Whales after the tour which is cool. We also did the one hour puffin cruise with them and loved seeing all
the puffins and other birds as well as learning about the area. Highly recommend! "

" Me and my girfriend had a great experience taking the Whale Watching tour with Special Tours. We negotiated a small discount beforehand by quoting the price of a rival company's tour. The tour guide was highly knowledgable and passionate about his field, we saw 5 humpbacks in total, 2 of which were bobbing alongside our boat. A unique experience and the main reason we visited the country! "

" Great experience on the 17:00 to 20:00 sea fishing trip. Very nice small but fast boat staffed with two biologist guides and three additional crew for our 15 passenger group (they can take up to 25). Two kids around 8 years old were on the trip and really enjoyed it. I wouldn't take much younger than that, however. Under 15 years old are half price.

We stopped to fish in four different spots, all near dolphins, whales and puffins, with nearly everyone catching at least one or two fish. Only a few had sea fished before, with the crew helping everyone that needed it (it was pretty simple anyway). We were having so much fun that the captain even extended the trip by a half hour.

As fish were caught the crew prepared them for the grill. On the way back to the dock, they served a generous sample along with potatoes and sauce. It was a nice light meal that made the trip extra special. A similar meal in Reykjavik would be $40/person, so take that into consideration when comparing the cost to a typical whale watching tour. I would highly recommend this compared to other boat excursions. "

" The tour guide was very informative, and they did their best to find some wildlife to see during our boat tour. We were lucky enough to see some porpoises and white nosed dolphins. Beautiful experience and very much worth it. Will book again next time were in Iceland. "

" Having biologists as the guides was a great idea. Sarah and Jonathan were friendly and knowledgeable. Good to have binoculars on hand. Also appreciate the guides showing us different stages of the puffins in the book. "

" Great experience on the 5:00 to 8:00 sea fishing trip. Very nice small but fast boat staffed with two biologist guides and three additional crew for our 15 passenger group (they can take up to 25). " forget long smooth exposures of northern lights from a boat! they are also quite happy to take you out on a cloudy night. getting your money is what counts. my advice is rent a car and get inland... the special tours boat stays in the bay! not exactly hunting the lights.. does not even get total darkness. " I believe it was false advertisement. At the front desk the told us there is a 60% chances to see whales. Accepting the 40% risk to see nothing i spent approx 90$ to take the tour. However, later one of the staff told us that is has been more than 2 weeks since they had seen the whales, and of course we didn't see anything. Considering this fact, I believe they should have let us know of this situation and not tell us about the so-called 60% chance on average to see them. I call that false advertisement and stealing of my money because I would not have spent it knowing the facts. The fact that they offer you an unlimited life possibility to come back to the tour if you don't see whales does not change anything.

The boat and the guide were nice though. "
