Geo-Resource and Conservation Agriculture (GEORECA) is a national non-governmental organization mandated to serve Baringo, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Narok, West Pokot, and Samburu counties in Kenya. The NGO was registered by the NGO Co-ordination Board on 1st August 2022 under registration no. OP.218/22-099/126. The NGO is concerned with the restoration of the ecosystems and water resources in semi-arid and arid regions of the above-stated counties with a view to recharging water tables, increasing food production by application of appropriate water harvesting & agricultural techniques, regenerating natural habitats and promoting human-wildlife coexistence. To achieve its objectives, the NGO aims at promoting and facilitating active community participation in the programme through the incorporation of short-term benefits on adoption of sustainable food and income generation practices.Based at Emining town in Mogotio sub-county, the NGO's current pilot focus is on addressing ecological intervention measures in severely environmentally degraded regions of Emining division from where it will spread over to other areas of Baringo county upon its expansion in future.The NGO is incorporated and implemented by young geology and environmental professionals who are in pursuit of restoring the environment and supporting livelihoods in arid and semi-arid regions.Mission:To restore the ecosystem and empower communities to participate and adopt sustainable natural resource conservation and management practices for improved socio-economic livelihoods.
