" My family stayed in the Apartments in company of two other families. The apartments have a lovely pool. Unfortunately, we experienced multiple incidences that left us upset and hinted at some problems with the operation of Mzima. Here are just a couple of the incidences.
Incidence #1
- I requested a car wash. Lilly (the Manager) offered to have our vehicle picked up and driven to another location within the property for the wash.
- The employee-cum-driver ran into another guest's parked car and failed to report the crash.
- Astonishingly, the employee claimed he was unaware that he had run into another vehicle.
- Lilly, informed us that Mzima owners would not compensate the other guest for the scratches/dents on his vehicle because the guest had signed a Waiver. No attempt was made to assess amount of damage or at least contact guest. Lilly, informed us that Mzima owners stated that liability fell on their employee and instructed us to work it out with employee. How incredulous!!!
- When you have a guest, they are there for a positive, non-stressful experience. It's not about the money, it's about how you treat your guest.
Incidence #2
- For some utter ridiculous unfathomable reason, Lilly (the Manager) informed one of our Apartment maintenance/butler that we had complained about her being rude.
- Elizabeth (the butler), had been extremely courteous and met all our expectations without reservation.
- We, including the Chef and cleaning staff, could not arrive at any reason why Lilly was attempting to tarnish Elizabeth's reputation by making up accusations. Very unprofessional!
Pros:
- Fantastic beach front location.
- Air conditioning and fans in rooms.
- Main house, cottage, and apartments each have their own swimming pools so guests do not have to walk long distances for a dip.
- Kite surfing, jet skiing, and beach bar & restaurant located right next to property on the beach.
- Rooms and bathrooms/washrooms are clean.
Cons:
- All support staff were excellent but seem to be working under some duress.
- Manager was not helpful in resolving issues.
- Mzima is a small property that may market itself as a high-end boutique, but the level of service and interactions with manager was One-star at best.
- Many utensils in Apartment had rust on them.
- Refrigerator in 2-br apartment was tiny and didn't work well.
- Utensil and cutlery cabinets were dirty.
- Kitchen sink was heavily stained.
- Living room carpet was dirty.
- Guests have to buy their own dish washing soap and toilet paper. "

" The rooms are great, the view is fantastic. But the food and guest service is poor. Simple Breakfast can take up to 2 hours to be served! With proper management this could easily be a 4-5 star spot. Too bad. "
