About Chariots of Mercy Foundation - NGO Kenya
Chariots of mercy is registered under the law of the government of Kenya as a foundation.
One of the most urgent and poignant problems in Kenya is the abandonment of very young babies and children, either through the parent’s lack of resources or as a result of the increasing poverty level. Moved by this daunting fact and their love for children Mr & Mrs. Muriithi Ben and Ann Wambui (two Kenyan residences) launched into voluntary work with various local orphanages and school in remote part of Kenya rural towns.
These backgrounds lead to the two founding chariots of mercy foundation.
Chariots of mercy foundation facilitate empowering children in Kenya and giving them opportunities to enjoy childhood preparing them for noble adulthood

"The woman in this picture was OSEOLA MCCARTY (1908-1999). She worked all her life cleaning other women's houses. She lived very frugally... and in 1995 she donated $150,000 to the University of Southern Mississippi for scholarships. “I want to help somebody’s child go to college. I’m giving it away so that the children won’t have to work so hard, like I did".
"In 1998, she was awarded an honorary degree from USM, the first such degree awarded by the university. She received ...scores of awards and other honors recognizing her unselfish spirit, and President Bill Clinton presented her with a Presidential Citizens Medal, the nation’s second highest civilian award, during a special White House Ceremony. She also won the United Nations' Avicenna Medal for educational commitment. In June 1996, Harvard University awarded McCarty an honorary doctorate alongside Maya Lin, Walter Annenberg, and Judith Jameson. In 1997, McCarty received the Award for Greatest Public Service Benefiting the Disadvantaged, an award given out annually by Jefferson Awards. Ms McCarty was also recognized with an Essence Award and Patti LaBelle sang tribute to her during the ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York".
She was a spirited woman who knew the single act of helping another person / other people even though she did not achieve her desire to acquire education. God bless her soul in heaven.
May her story further inspire our passion to help others as best as we can and as humanly possible.
