I am Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah vying for the post of National Secretary General of Kenya Medical Practitioners' Pharmacists' and Dentists Union (KMPDU). I am the outgoing Branch Secretary for the South Rift Region covering Nakuru, Bomet, Kajiado, Kericho, Narok and Laikipia counties where I have worked for the last five years (2016 -2021). While leading in South Rift, we achieved some great progress for members of the union within a short span of time. An overall 70% Implementation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). I led a dynamic team that fostered unity, progress, and member-centric approach to the way we run business. It was through this that I led the team to develop a branch office, branch staff improved union operations and decentralized dependency to members of the entire team and the branch office. This model is key to serve members effectively. I also served the union as a National Advisory Council (NAC) member for the period. I was involved in drafting the new CBA proposals 2022-2026 cycle that is intended to improve on the current terms and conditions of service. I have trained in various fields equipping me to be an effective labour leader in the healthcare sector. For example, I was trained in negotiation skills, international labour process focusing on Union Fragmentation and Solidarity in Vienna-Austria. I have also attended various capacity building sessions for effective union leadership, representation, and delivery of services to union members. As a result, my education, training, and work experience have exposed me to the knowledge and competencies in understanding and addressing the challenges in the health sector and labour relations matters. Over this time, I have built some key skills and competencies including strategic leadership, communication, building teamwork & trust, leading change, managing conflict, mentoring, and coaching. It is on this premise that I believe that my leadership as the Secretary General of KMPDU
