The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) is a cultural heritage social enterprise located in the heart of Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. Since 2007, TAEC has celebrated the diverse ethnic cultures of Laos.The Centre's primary activities are two-fold: a museum, and fair-trade handicrafts shops directly linked with artisan communities across Laos. TAEC's work includes research, advocacy for artisan communities, school outreach programmes, craft trainings, lectures, and a non-profit foundation in the USA. The Centre also maintains a collection of artefacts, a small library, a family activity centre, and outdoor patio space for special events. TAEC has emerged as a regional leader in cultural heritage management, community development, and cultural intellectual property rights advocacy. It is the only independent resource and learning centre for both foreign visitors and local citizens dedicated to the country's many and diverse ethnic groups.
