Description

Gig’s Soccer Academy started on the 4th July, 2009 with only ten children. The Academy has been in operation for almost six years and caters for approximately 130 youth football players both male and female, ranging from 4-25 years. Football was the sport that Founder, Gilroy Lamontagne grew up playing it was his dream to give back to the children in Soufriere. Young boys in particular are at risk in the community, the idler they are, the more potential trouble they can find themselves in.

From inception it has been our goal to provide a safe and positive environment to foster a healthy lifestyle and a passion for football in our youth athletes. All our sessions prioritize individual ball skills, promote the development of motor skills and stamina/endurance building, as well as fun activities to put those skills in practice and develop teamwork , cooperation and self-confidence. Our mission is to strive for excellence, enjoy the process and good results will follow.

Gig’s Soccer Academy has also achieved a number of accomplishments in the last five years. Ten of our footballers(both males and females) have made the national football team and represented St. Lucia in CONCACAF Regional Tournaments held in Haiti and the Cayman Islands. Our players also represented St Lucia at the Windward Islands Games in Grenada and St Vincent and Honduras. One of our players was also named MVP of the St Lucian team and one of players is part of the U17 national team that have made it to the final round of the World Cup Qualifyers 2015.

Mr Lamontagne has played an integral part in Coaching Community football in Soufriere, he has coached U15, U17, U19, U21 and the Senior Football Team (FA Cup). He has coached both male and females football and has made it to quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals of his respective tournaments.

One of our biggest achievements is the development of the Black Panthers, our senior team. It has always been our goal to allow our academy to evolve, so that our young adult players could continue to develop and be challenged as young adults.

The Black Panthers are still in the infancy stage and have participated in two seasons of local community football. To date, we reached the semi-finals of our first tournament, are soccerama champions 2014 and reached the finals of the Harold Dalsan Cup 2014. We are presently in the semi-finals of the Soufriere Veterans Local Clubs Tournament.

We are proud to have added a female football team to our Academy our Female Black Panthers!!!!! All our U23 girls were selected to participate the National Training Program with the hopes of making the National U23 Football Team after attending the National Trials in Soufriere on Tuesday 10th February, 2015.
